Wisdom of God
σοφία τοῦ θεοῦ
The Wisdom of God — Christ, the hidden wisdom from before the ages
Symbol: The lamp lit before the foundation of the world — wisdom older than creation
“but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”
1 Corinthians 1:24
Paul calls Christ the wisdom of God — not a teacher of wisdom, but wisdom itself, hidden from the ages and revealed in the cross.
What the name means
The cross looked like foolishness; it was the deepest wisdom — God's way of saving was wiser than human reasoning.
Christ is wisdom from God: 'righteousness, holiness and redemption' (1 Cor 1:30) — He does not merely give wisdom; He IS all we need.
In Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Col 2:3) — to know Him is to know the wisdom behind everything.
How to pray this name
- Pray: 'Wisdom of God, I do not need to understand everything — I need to know You.'
- Pray it in confusion — the Wisdom of God is a Person, and He is near.
Wisdom of God, hidden from ages and revealed in Christ, I seek You. Be my wisdom when I cannot see. In the Mighty Name of Jesus! Amen.
Declaration
Christ is the wisdom of God — I know what I need to know because I know Him.
