A banner was the standard lifted over an army so soldiers knew who they belonged to and where to gather. God Himself is that banner over you.
What the name means
Israel prevailed while Moses' hands were raised — the victory was located in dependence, not in the sword.
A banner declares ownership and allegiance. To fly Jehovah-Nissi is to say the battle has already been claimed by God.
The name is a war name: pray it when you are outnumbered.
How to pray this name
- Raise your hands physically as you pray it — the posture preaches to your own soul.
- Name the battle, then name the Banner over it.
Jehovah-Nissi, be lifted high over this battle. I fight from under Your banner, not for a victory but from one. In the Mighty Name of Jesus! Amen.
