Hebrew · yeh-ho-VAH ro-EE
Jehovah-Rohi
יְהוָה רֹעִי
The LORD is my shepherd
Symbol: The shepherd's staff — guidance, rescue and gentle correction
“The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.”
Psalm 23:1
The most tender of the covenant names. It says God does not merely rule you from a distance; He walks you home.
What the name means
A shepherd leads, feeds, defends, carries and counts. Nothing about your life is too small for His attention.
Rohi is personal — 'my shepherd.' David wrote it as a man who had been both shepherd and sheep.
Jesus takes the name up in John 10: the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep.
How to pray this name
- Pray Psalm 23 line by line, inserting your own valley.
- Ask for guidance in specific decisions: 'Shepherd, lead me beside still water here.'
Jehovah-Rohi, lead me where I cannot see the road. Restore my soul and walk me through the valley. In the Mighty Name of Jesus! Amen.
Declaration
The Lord is my shepherd — I lack nothing and I am never lost to Him.
