The Morning Star appears just before dawn — the last light of night and the first promise of morning. Jesus is that star for the world.
What the name means
In ancient times the morning star was Venus, herald of sunrise — Christ is the herald of the eternal day.
He is both Root and Offspring of David — older than the king He descends from, and yet his rightful heir.
To receive the Morning Star is to know the night is ending, no matter how dark the current hour.
How to pray this name
- Pray it in dark seasons: 'Morning Star, I trust the dawn You promise.'
- Pray it for the church awaiting His return — the star is already rising.
Bright Morning Star, You rise before the dawn of the age to come. Shine in my longest night until day breaks. In the Mighty Name of Jesus! Amen.
