Paul says Christ crucified is the power of God — not power as the world defines it, but the power that actually saves.
What the name means
The cross looked like defeat; it was the power of God unto salvation — power that rescues, not merely impresses.
He is both power and wisdom — He is strong enough to save and wise enough to do it God's way.
To the called, the cross is power — to the world, it is weakness. The same event splits humanity by faith.
