Christ is not a sketch of God — He is the exact image, the visible form of the invisible Father. To see Him is to see God.
What the name means
An image makes the invisible visible; Christ is what God looks like in human form.
Hebrews 1:3 says He is 'the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being.'
If you want to know what the Father is like, look at the Son — His words, works and wounds are the Father's face.
