When David's royal line looked like a chopped stump, God promised a Branch — a living shoot that would sprout from what looked dead.
What the name means
The Branch is a messianic title used by Jeremiah, Zechariah and Isaiah — the king-priest who would restore what exile had destroyed.
Zechariah says the Branch will build the temple and sit as priest on a throne — kingship and priesthood in one Person.
From a dead stump comes life: God specialises in growing hope where the world sees only ruin.
How to pray this name
- Pray it over what feels cut down: 'Branch, sprout from this stump.'
- Pray it over the church — the Branch is still building His temple.
Righteous Branch, sprout from what looks dead in my life. Restore what exile has stolen and build Your temple in me. In the Mighty Name of Jesus! Amen.
