1 John 2:1
John calls Jesus the Righteous One — the Advocate who stands with us before the Father when we have sinned, because He Himself is right.
What the name means
He is the Righteous One — His righteousness is the basis of His advocacy. He can plead for us because He is without sin.
If anybody sins — not 'when you are doing well' but 'when you fall' — the Righteous One is already there.
He is our Advocate, not our accuser — the same righteousness that condemns sin pleads for the sinner who trusts Him.
How to pray this name
- Pray after failure: 'Righteous One, my Advocate, I confess — plead for me.'
- Pray it for victory over sin — the goal is not to sin, but the provision is for when you do.
Righteous One, my Advocate with the Father, I confess my sin and I trust Your advocacy. Turn me from sin. In the Mighty Name of Jesus! Amen.
Declaration
I have the Righteous One as my Advocate — when I fall, He is already standing for me.
