Malachi promised the Lord Himself would come to His temple as the Messenger of the Covenant — Jesus fulfilled it by entering the temple and the cross.
What the name means
The Messenger of the Covenant is the Lord Himself — He does not send a representative; He comes.
He comes to refine, purify and establish the covenant — the Messenger is also the Refiner.
Jesus quoted this verse about John the Baptist preparing the way and about Himself as the Lord coming to His temple.
How to pray this name
- Pray: 'Messenger of the Covenant, come to Your temple — my body is Your temple.'
- Pray it for refining — the Messenger purifies what He enters.
Messenger of the Covenant, come to Your temple in me. Refine and purify until Your covenant is sealed on my heart. In the Mighty Name of Jesus! Amen.
