Hebrews reveals Jesus as the Great High Priest — not a Levitical priest who enters an earthly tabernacle, but the eternal Priest who entered heaven itself with His own blood.
What the name means
He is able to sympathise with our weaknesses because He was tempted in every way — yet without sin (Heb 4:15).
He is priest forever in the order of Melchizedek — His priesthood never ends and never needs replacing.
Because He lives forever, He always lives to intercede — your prayers are carried by a Priest who never sleeps.
How to pray this name
- Pray with confidence: 'Great High Priest, I approach the throne of grace with boldness.'
- When tempted, remember He sympathises — bring the temptation to Him, not your shame.
Great High Priest, You entered heaven with Your own blood and You intercede for me now. I hold firm to You. In the Mighty Name of Jesus! Amen.
