The Hand on the Plough

In His presence is fullness of joy. Not the fleeting happiness of circumstances but the deep, settled joy of being with the One who loves you. You were made for this; nothing else will satisfy.

Where the presence is, the atmosphere changes. Carry Him into your home, your workplace, your conversations. You are a portable sanctuary, and the glory goes with you.

Scripture was never written in a vacuum. Every promise you read today was first given to somebody with dust on their feet, bills to pay, enemies at the gate and questions they could not answer. That is why the word still lands: it was forged in real weather. When you read it, you are not being handed a slogan — you are being handed the testimony of a God who has already proved Himself in circumstances harder than yours.

So take this into the ordinary hours. Let it change how you answer the message you have been avoiding, how you speak to the person who irritates you, how you handle the hour when nobody is watching. Devotion that never reaches the kitchen, the commute and the workplace is not devotion — it is decoration.
