November 18th
A Faith That Walks on Water
Listen to this devotional
Opening · Section 1 of 11
“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven.”
2 Chronicles 7:14Read full chapter →
Thanksgiving turns the ordinary into the sacred. Five loaves and two fish became a feast in the hands of a grateful Saviour. Bring what you have with a thankful heart, and watch it multiply.
November trains the tongue to bless. Let no unwholesome talk come out, but only what is helpful for building others up. Gratitude in the mouth is grace in the air.
Do not measure your walk with God by how you feel this morning. Feelings are weather; covenant is climate. There will be days when the fire feels far away and the heavens feel like brass. On those days, do not renegotiate the truth — rehearse it. Preach to your own soul until your soul remembers who it belongs to.
Whatever this day holds, you are not walking into it alone or unarmed. You go with the word of God in your mouth, the Spirit of God in your chest, the blood of Jesus over your life and the intercession of Christ at the right hand of the Father. That is not a hopeful thought — that is your legal standing.
The Prayer
Pray it slowly, out loud, movement by movement
1. Adoration
Father of light, You see what I cannot see and You have already been where I am going. Nothing surprises You, nothing overwhelms You, and nothing has ever fallen outside Your governing hand.
2. Confession
I repent of the timidity that has disguised itself as wisdom, and the silence that has disguised itself as humility. I have shrunk back where You called me to stand. I have kept my testimony private to keep my life comfortable.
3. Petition
Give me eyes to see what You see and courage to do what You say. Break the fear of man off my life. Let me speak the truth in love, give without calculating, and step out before all the evidence is in.
4. Consecration
I will not shrink back, I will not settle, and I will not be silent about Your goodness. Send me, and I will go. In the Mighty Name of Jesus! Amen.
