March 3rd

The Fellowship of His Sufferings

Listen to this devotional

Opening · Section 1 of 11

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10Read full chapter

An awakened heart is a dangerous heart to the enemy. When you stop sleepwalking through your faith, the atmosphere around you changes. March asks the brave question: what in me has been asleep that God wants fully alive?

Yield the drowsy places to the fire of the Spirit. He does not wake you to shame you for sleeping; He wakes you because the hour has come and the harvest is ready.

Scripture was never written in a vacuum. Every promise you read today was first given to somebody with dust on their feet, bills to pay, enemies at the gate and questions they could not answer. That is why the word still lands: it was forged in real weather. When you read it, you are not being handed a slogan — you are being handed the testimony of a God who has already proved Himself in circumstances harder than yours.

So take this into the ordinary hours. Let it change how you answer the message you have been avoiding, how you speak to the person who irritates you, how you handle the hour when nobody is watching. Devotion that never reaches the kitchen, the commute and the workplace is not devotion — it is decoration.

The Prayer

Pray it slowly, out loud, movement by movement

1. Adoration

Father, before I ask You for anything, let me simply behold You. You are holy, eternal, unsearchable in wisdom and tender in mercy. You were God before this year began and You will be God long after it ends. I bless You for who You are, and not merely for what You do.

2. Confession

I come honestly. I have let lesser fires warm me. I have been busy where I should have been still, and silent where I should have been bold. I bring the apathy, the pride, the fear, the hidden compromise — and I do not defend it. Wash me in the blood of Jesus and make my heart clean again.

3. Petition

Now, Lord, do in me what only You can do. Set my heart on fire again. Burn off the dust of routine. Give me hunger where I have grown numb, courage where I have grown cautious, and love where I have grown hard. Fill every empty room in me with Your Spirit.

4. Consecration

I give You this day before it is spent — my words, my work, my thoughts, my body, my time and my affections. Let this day be an altar and not an accident. Have Your way in me, and let the fire You light on me warm everyone I meet. In the Mighty Name of Jesus! Amen.
